Customers rave about the freshness and quality of the food, as highlighted in a glowing review from Lisa O., who praised the hot and fresh dishes that arrived at her table. Along with classic Chinese favorites, the combination dinners offer excellent value—complete with soup, an entree, an egg roll or rib, a pot of tea, and dessert all at a reasonable price.
But let's not forget the highlights! Marvin H. shares that this restaurant is a top choice for a sit-down experience, thanks to its friendly staff and consistent quality. On the flip side, while some might find the service a bit slow during busy hours, it's clear that the attentive staff prioritize providing a comfortable dining experience. And though a few dishes like the shrimp and broccoli received mixed reviews, the chicken wings have garnered unanimous acclaim as some of the best in town.
In conclusion, Little China Chinese Restaurant stands out not just for its quality dishes but also for its inviting ambiance and dedicated service. “ Pretty nice little restaurant for the price. This review isn't long enough and requires more characters. Oh there we go. ”
“ Food is amazing!! Very hot and fresh when it got to your table. The service was a bit slow, however there was only one waitress, in her defense. It was a very quiet, low keyed atmosphere. You should definitely try! ”
“ If you want a great sit down Chinese joint, this is it! It's been a staple in Essex for a reason. Quality food and friendly staff! ”
“ Our standard for Chinese food. Can't get enough of it; we eat there at least once per month. Combination dinners include soup, an entree, an egg roll or rib, a pot of tea and dessert when you eat in. All at a very reasonable price and with friendly service. Typical Chinese decor. ”
“ What a nice Chinese restaurant. Great vibes, small and cozy. Great for lunch time , dinner, family vibes and dates. You can carry out if you choose to not dine in (it is kinda small inside). Although I gave it 4 stars it's truly 4.5 stars (very close to getting 5 stars) what was a miss for me was my shrimp and broccoli was over cooked (almost mushy) and my shrimp was cooked with the tails in which made it very messy for me to eat. However, The chicken wings are some of the BEST wings I've ever had!! A Must get! The customer service was nice and the price is fair. ”
“ I love that I am coming back to update this review but honestly, nothing has changed!!! The menu prices are still affordable, portions are huge, service is amazing and the quality is still on point!! I truly to love this place and eating out every day wasn't so bad, I would definitely make this a regular spot! If you get a chance to visit here, you will also notice how much it is loved by the locals. I kid you not, a new customer walked in every 5 minutes either to place an order, dine-in or to carry out! Please share some love with this local business while enjoying some DELICIOUS EATS! ”
“ Let me start by telling you, three people ate lunch and took home food for $48. I thought my mom was going to fall out of her chair when the bill came. We normally spend twice that amount. Our first lunch with my mom in the New Year was a great one. I've been going to Little China for ages. My grandparents and I used to go there all the time, and my grandfather passed a while ago. Their wonton soup used to be his favorite, and it's still exactly the same. And it is the best wonton you will ever taste. The dumplings are huge, and filled. The sprinkling of fresh scallions and the shreds of additional pork to the broth puts an already incredible soup over the top. My boyfriend had the egg drop soup - since soup comes with your meal - and it was glorious. I can't tell you which I liked better. The egg drop is so thick. It coats your whole mouth in deliciousness. You don't really need to order a beverage at Little China, as you get a pot of tea, and water with your crunchy fried wonton nibblers, as soon as you are seated. We also had shrimp toast. I have tried shrimp toast in... probably like 30 different Chinese spots and none of them compare to the Shrimp Toast at Little China. It's crispy without being greasy. I was so happy to finally introduce it to my boyfriend, as I have been singing its praises to him for years - every time we would order from a different restaurant, I'd be like, "Not as good as Little China." I don't know why it took me so long to take him there. We drive past it all the time. As an entree, my boyfriend got Szechuan Chicken (Chicken w.Vegs, Stir-Fried In Hot Sauce), with an egg roll (typical, unremarkable) and pork fried rice. The fun thing about Little China is that you don't get white rice with your meal. You get this soy-forward, incredible pork rice with everything. It came with all our meals. My mom ordered Singapore Noodles (Rice Noodle, Shrimp, Chicken, Roast Pork spiced with dry curry, with veg). Again, I may have had a bit of entree envy. I had a taste and it hit all the right notes. I ordered General Tso's Chicken, and I must admit, while it was clear the they used their own chicken breast and deep fried it (unlike a lot of take away places that all seem to use that stringy pre-breaded, packaged chicken nuggets) themselves, it wasn't my favorite. I asked for it spicy, but it wasn't. What happened to Chinese restaurants putting those bird chilis in your General Tso's and other spicy dishes? I feel like I haven't seen them in years and I miss them. It was fine, but I wish I had ordered something else. I WILL order something else, upon my return because at that price, why not try everything? The obligatory fortune cookies closed our meal. Apparently I am going to make a new friend. Don't threaten me, fortune cookie!! Heee. Absolutely recommend. ”
“ Love this place! This small restaurant has plenty to offer at a reasonable prices. The staff is efficient in all aspects and accommodates it's customers, making sure all is ok with their meals. They start everyone with a pot of hot tea and a glass of ice water. I always ask for a refill of the tea. To the food: lunch works well for us, but arrive before 3pm that's when they switch to dinner. The Wonton soup is delightful with piping hot broth, 2 wontons, and topped with thinly sliced green onions and thinly sliced strips of pork. Of course you have the fried wonton crisps with it. For the entrees, my husband does not hesitate to order his favorite, Shrimp lomein. It is a huge portion, sometimes some of it makes it home. I usually order something on the lighter side like a chicken dish with vegetables in a white sauce. This visit I asked for no broccoli and more snow peas, they did a fantastic job on that switch out. Both lunch dishes come with either fried rice or white rice. Another option is on the back page where you can order the Pu pu Tray, it comes with shrimp toast, marinated whole chicken wings, beef strips with sauce, and Chinese BBQ ribs-my favorite. Add a flame pot in the center. Then select from the categories you prefer. Reasonable prices and generous servings, easy to find location. ”
“ Little China still remains one of the best American Chinese Food options in the area. The combination plates which include soup, a spare rib or egg roll, main entree, pork fried rice and dessert remains one of best deals in town ($12-15). Everything is always served hot, punctually and with a smile. Nostalgia always hits hard when dining in, as the decor is from an 80s Chinese food restaurant (think red paper lanterns). Definitely worth the trip! ”
